Hasib is an exceptional young man from Afghanistan, who graduated from high school two years ahead of schedule. Though accepted to university, he made a life-changing decision: to delay his own education and work instead, so Faryal could pursue her studies abroad. His dream of becoming a physician seemed distant—but his resolve never wavered.

Moved by both his brilliance and  selflessness, ‘A More Balanced World’ awarded Hasib a scholarship. In just two months, he prepared for and passed the university entrance exam and in fall of 2022—just as Faryal began her PhD—Hasib the school of Dentistry in Herat.

Now in his fourth year, Hasib continues to lead with humility and compassion. When a major earthquake struck Afghanistan in 2023, displacing his own family, he took on the lead to organize relief efforts on behalf of AMBW and deliver aid to the vulnerable families, often at night to protect their dignity.

In 2024, Hasib was selected through a competitive process to attend a 3-week dental training at Mashhad Dental University in Iran. Despite initial skepticism from peers unfamiliar with his background, he quickly earned their respect. He became the only participant among his cohort to present at a scientific conference and sit beside leading professors.

Later that year, Hasib was invited to observe a rare surgery at Herat International Hospital—performed by Dr. Mehdi Momtaz, the only qualified surgeon in the country, capable of such procedure. It was an unforgettable moment for Hasib.

“If I can one day continue my studies at a specialty level—perhaps even in Iran—it would be a dream come true,” Hasib says.

His journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when talent, purpose, and opportunity come together. Hasib is not just studying to become a dentist—he is building a life of service.
